Liquids, Aerosols & Gels January 10 2008
Around the world, aviation authorities are working to keep travellers safe. An important new step is to ensure liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) taken on-board aircraft do not pose a security risk. You have an important role to play, every time you fly overseas.
LAGs include items such as: water, drinks, make-up, sun block, face cream and other creams, insect repellent, perfume and other sprays, lipsticks, lip gloss or balm, mascara, shaving cream or gel, shaving and other pressurised foams, shower gel, anit-perspirant, hair wax and other waxes, hair gel or spray, tooothpaste and other pastes, foods in sauces, soups, stews, pickled foods and jams. These LAGs are still permitted in your checked-in baggage.
- The amount of LAGs you (and children) can have in carry-on baggage is now limited on all flights from New Zealand to any overseas destination.
- This is in line with new international aviation security guidelines and assists with the security of everyone on-board.
- LAGs must be in containers 100ml or smaller.
- Must be contained in ONE transparent plastic bag with a re-sealable top. The plastic bag must be no larger than one litre (about 20cm x 20cm or 15cm x 25cm).
- Show this bag separately from your other carry-on baggage at the airport's security screening point.
Exemptions
- Prescription medicines (with supporting documentation)
- Prescribed medical devices (with supporting documentation)
- Keep items you think are exempt separate from your plastic bag of LAGs in your carry-on baggage.
- Exempt items will still be inspected at the security screening point.
- Please have medicines and supporting documentation, dietary supplements or baby products ready for inspection.
Exempt from Limits
- Non-prescription medicines and essential dietary requirements that you need for your flight
- Baby food, formula or other essential products in quantities reasonable for the length of your flight.
Airport Shopping
- Purchase LAGs at Duty Free Stores once you have passed through secruity screening.
- No restrictions on buying or collecting duty free on arrival in New Zealand.
